Upon arriving at our studio, you will use a QR code to check in online. Sharing some garment details in advance helps us get ready for your appointment and ensures a smooth experience. Then it's off to the fitting room!

Inside the Fitting Room

During your fitting, your fitter will discuss the types of alterations that are needed to achieve your desired fit and will pin your garment so that you can envision what the end result will look like! Following this, your fitter will provide you with a quote for alterations.

Try-On and Take Home

After we work our tailoring magic, expect a friendly text and email from us letting you know your garment is ready for pick-up. Swing by, and our team will be thrilled to assist you in trying it on in-studio to ensure it fits just the way you want. Your satisfaction is our priority!

FAQ's

How long will my fittings last? How many fittings will I need?

Our standard fitting appointment lasts for 30 minutes. If you feel you might need more time or have specific requests, please feel free to ask our friendly staff at the front desk, and we'll be happy to accommodate your needs based on appointment availability.

The number of fittings required depends on the complexity of your garment and the alterations needed. Typically, we aim for one fitting and then proceed to your garment's final try-on and pick-up. However, in some cases, a second fitting may be necessary. We'll always communicate this with you before moving forward with any additional alterations.
Can I customize my garment?

At Alts, we're passionate about creating unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. Feel free to bring your ideas into our shop for a personalized consultation. We'll collaborate with you to explore the best ways to customize your clothing and bring your vision to life.
What alterations can be made to my garment?

The alterations that can be made to your garment depend on your specific needs and preferences. At Alts, we offer a wide range of tailoring services, including but not limited to: Adjusting fit, hemming, sleeve alterations, darting, zipper and button replacement, lining repair or replacement, repairs and patching, customizations, and more! To determine the alterations needed for your garment, we recommend scheduling a fitting and consultation with our experienced team. We'll assess your garment and discuss your preferences to provide tailored recommendations for achieving your ideal look and fit.
What should I bring with me to my fitting?

When coming in for your fitting appointment, it's helpful to bring the following items with you:

1. The Garment to be Altered: Please bring the specific clothing item that you would like to have altered. This allows our fitter to assess it accurately and make precise recommendations.

2. Undergarments: Wear the undergarments or shapewear that you intend to pair with the garment. This ensures that the alterations take into account the fit with your preferred underlayers.

3. Shoes: If your garment involves alterations to the length, such as hemming pants or a dress, bring the shoes you plan to wear with it. This helps our fitter determine the appropriate length for your garment.

How far in advance should I schedule my fitting? Do you offer rush services?

You can book an appointment as far in advance as you'd like. We recommend you come in as soon as you know you need alterations so that we do not have to rush anything! However, we understand that sometimes we need things done quickly! We will do our best to accommodate rush requests and the team will communicate with you transparently on what can be done.

Wedding Party Alterations

Our team of skilled tailors and seamstresses can perform simple or intricate alterations for bridal wear and extend the service to your entourage, with special discounts for groomsmen and bridesmaids. You may also contact us regarding formal wear for you and your groom.

What Happens at Each Bridal Fitting?

Alts recommends all future brides plan their fittings, allowing enough time for bridal alterations. It’s ideal to schedule the first fitting 2-3 months before your wedding date. During the first fitting, our team collaborates with you to create a one-of-a-kind bridal dress. We ask if you have any specific requests for the wedding dress of your dreams, and our team discusses the types of alterations needed to ensure the dress is what you desire. We pin your bridal gown, allowing you to preview the post-alteration result. Our team also provides you with a quote and collects one-third of the payment.

During the second fitting (usually 4-6 weeks before your wedding day), our tailors temporarily hold the layers together, allowing you to envision what the gown will look like after alterations. We make adjustments related to any changes in your body since the previous fitting and accommodate any additional requests. At this fitting, our team collects the second payment.

We make final adjustments to your bridal dress 2-4 weeks before your wedding and schedule a pickup time. We collect the final payment at this time.

How Soon May I Schedule a Bridal Alteration?

We recommend visiting us 2-3 months in advance to ensure our tailors and seamstresses can create or modify your wedding gown according to your preferences and body type. With several years of experience, our tailors can do almost any alteration, including fit adjustments, sleeve alterations, intricate alterations and customizations, such as creating a cape or adding an illusion neckline.

When Should I Begin My Fittings?

With months to spare before your big day, your first fitting should last about an hour. It’s helpful for you to bring the following:

• Undergarments you plan to pair with your wedding dress

• Bridal accessories

• Bridal shoes

Having these items helps us make appropriate alterations to create the final look and determine the correct length for your wedding dress.
The number of necessary fittings also depends on the alterations you want us to make and how your body changes. Don’t worry; the subsequent fittings usually don’t take longer, and our team helps you pick the designs or alterations that work best for you.

Do You Charge for Bridal Fittings?

At Alts, we don’t collect the full payment during the bridal fittings. You can pay them in three monthly installments, allowing you to make smart payments for your bridal dress. We collect a third of the payment during the first fitting, the second third on the second fitting and the third payment on the final fitting.

Our bridal tailors have years of experience working with wedding dresses. Still, we recommend you follow through with our recommended schedule for the fittings to ensure we have enough time to alter your bridal gown according to your preferences or desires.
